There are so many nice little Villages to visit nearby Sarigerme Village ,all scattered around in the surrounding area within short distances between each other, which each village has got its own character.
These villages are nowhere like the villages in the uk with its own post-office and supermarket and groceries.
There are more like quiet settlements where the inhabitants are busy with daily farm works on the fields during the summer, this is why maybe you wont see many people wondering around during the day times.Every Village has its own man-only Cafe's , Mosque and if has enough pupils even their own primary school.
Front of Village Houses and their backyards are naturally decorated with beautiful flowers in empty catering tins. Midsummer times you will find some sort of an activity in the back yards of these house where village women are preparing food for the winter times such as Jam, Cheese, Pickles and so on.Usually neighbours and relatives come together to do such preparations and this can result in celebration atmosphere.
Getting around these villages is actually not that difficult despite poor road signs.
Don't worry, you wont get lost if you decide to do a DIY trip with a scooter or a car as all roads eventually takes you one way or another to Dalyan,Ortaca or Dalaman ..
Please be extra careful whilst driving as they are many hidden curves and one can not say that Turks are the greatest experts when it comes to driving.
Where can you start ?
Hit the road towards Ortaca (one way out from sarigerme village) and when you see the signpost on the road Dalaman-Fethiye, there where you turn to your right just opposite to the post sign ,this little road will take you through Mergenli Village towards to Dalyan , well i leave the rest to you..
Please, make sure you do respect the culture of the locals to avoid a problem.
Every Time when I go to Sarigerme , the time is always short for me, doesn't matter how long I do stay ,simply because I stay away from the usual boring touristic stuff , and hit the real local life ...
Last time in August 2009 , I went abit further out of Sarigerme to Gokbel direction ,to the hidden mountain Villages , all what you can say is "My God " ,
it is absolutely Gorgeous ,peaceful ,Green , and the People are so friendly ..
We took Water, Cheese, Bread, Tomato, Cucumber ,Water Melon with us ,and we stopped next to fresh water well in the middle of the Forest high in the mountain and enjoyed our fresh meal while watching the Wild Life which surrounded us with pure beauty...On the way you come across family run small huts where they prepare freshly made Turkish pastry which called gozleme, you can have it with banana ,chocolate , cheese ,lemon and sugar etc.
