If you wish to drive in Turkey, you are required to carry either an International Driving License issued in the UK or a notarised copy, in Turkish, of your Driving License. Please note provisional driving licences are not recognised.
An 'A' category standard motorcycle licence is required to hire motorcycles over 50cc in Turkey. An 'A1' category 'light motorcycle' driving licence is only suitable for motorcycles below 50cc. It is against the law not to wear a helmet.
Contravention of the above could result in a heavy fine.
Requirements
To rent a car, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 1 year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. A few car classes have a maximum rental age of 70 years. Seatbelts are mandatory but child safety seats are not mandatory.

Speed limits in Turkey are as follows: City 31mph/50kph Open Roads 56mph/90kph Highways 56mph/90kph
Rules of the Road
Traffic travels on the right and caution in rural areas is advised since you are likely to encounter farm carts and animals in the road. Please be cautious especialy on the roads of Sarigerme and surrounding Villages whilest driving at nights as the visibility of the Vehicles e.g Tractors are not upto savety Standards .
Do not drink and drive.
The Police will breathalyse drunk drivers, fine them on the spot (currently 448 YTL) and immediately confiscate their licence for six months.
There are constent checks on the Road sides ,regardsless time or temprature ,it is very likely that you will be pulled on side by the traffic police in order to check for relevant paper work as well as breathalysing...
