MERGENLI VILLAGE NEAR SARIGERME

Sarigerme Village was ones part of the Mergenli Village which has managed to seperate it self due to growing population. There are great bonds between these to villages due to relative relations of the inhabitands.

If you would like to see undisturbed Village Life , not changed much ,despite being close to touristic beaches and being in the heart of tourism area then make your way to Mergenli Village direction. In order to get to the Mergenli Village, you need your own transportation, car or motorbike. it is very easy and you will not have any difficulties getting there if you do turn from the right spot of course.

There is only one way in and out of Sarigerme Village, when you leave the village follow the road untill to the first cross road with signs indicating to left Fethiye, Dalaman and to right signs indicating Mergenli, this is the cross road where you need to make a right turn if you are coming from sarigerme, obvioulsy left if you are coming from Ortaca directions.

Please be extra cautious on this road as there are plenty of signs of irresponsible driving e.g fast, overtakings, no prior warnings.
If you are on a bike, please use proper helmet for your own safety as well as due to legal requirement.

Mergenli road also used as a shortcut by the drivers from Sarigerme to Dalyan. Roads are windy and in some spots there are sharp and blind corners where you must slow down and be carefull. However, most part of the roads are on a flat area and the distance is very visible.

People are very friendly and welcoming but do not expect to be chatted away by them as they are busy with their farms and lands they are working on.

If you do decide to take a break on man only turkish cafe, please bare in mind that you are not in a touristic village and therefore pay respect to the culture and ask permission before take a seat if there is a female member in your party.Cafe's in Villages are male only and women are not part of this in any way. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon when the weather is a bit cooler, walking around can be very relaxing as it reflects the pure nature with the flora smells and bird twitchs.

Apparently wildlife was very rich in the past this has changed since furtilisers has been used for cultivating the soil and hunting tourism introduced. Still however if you look closely you can see alot of activities in the area. Roads can be occupied by the water turtles trying to cross from road side water bank to another pond or by tortoises.

Storks are on the search for delicious snales or watersnakes on the farmlands keeping their distance from the traffic as much as they can, so if you have a camea with good zooming you may catch really good shots, which same apply to lizards as there are some really funny looking guys who needs your attention, you know you need to be quick with your camera if you wish to take a good picture of these little fellows.

All together there is not much to see in Mergenli Village other then natural surrounding but can give you a real insight of the village life. You can continue either to Gokbel and Dalyan direction from here, or to Ortaca Town trough neighbour villages such as Karadonlar.

Please note, if possible try to drive during day time hours as drink driving is common between mergenli and dalyan roads.
