Introduction to Sarigerme..
Sarigerme isn’t your typical over-commercialised, tourist holiday destination; in fact it is far from it. Situated on the Mediterranean Coast, the beach of Sarigerme and the tiny village of Osmaniye provides a insight into the real, cultural Turkey and the beauty and traditions that come along with it. Many maps don’t even have Sarigerme marked because of its minute size yet for a small place it has so much to offer. Each fortnight I shall be writing a column on something I would recommend to do, see or visit when visiting Sarigerme if you dare to explore outside your hotel.
The golden-sanded beach stretches around with its seven kilometres of coastline and the clear blue sea offers visitors much choice when it comes to adventurous water sports. Banana boats, the Super Mable and parasailing are just some of the most popular water sports.
Parasailing is usually around £30 per person but for a family you can get good deals this takes you up in a parachute attached to the back of a speed boat, it’s a very relaxing activity with beautiful views. The Super Mable I personally recommend and can almost guarantee you will never laugh so hard in your life, three of you can fit on this huge inflatable chair whilst getting taken on a very bumpy and fast journey across the sea.
I have paid no more that £10 sterling to have a go on the Super Mable and if you catcher the boat driver on a good day you can get three of you on it for just £20. The banana boat is a classic and a tourist’s favourite; this is probably the most cheapest as well.
On the public beach I have only paid 10 lira before and it is well worth it.
For more intense activities such as scuba diving you will need to visit local tour operators in Osmaniye as they are reliable, affordable and some of the loveliest people you will ever meet.
