CONS TO BE AWARE OF

Despite shouting out loud from this website and encouraged many Tour Guides in the area to let the tourist know about the cons, it was not possible to get the message accross to the majority and to the authorities. I am Hoping that you will tell others in your Hotel onces you read the followings ...DO NOT BECOME A STATISTIC

CON 1 ANTi MOSQUITO LIQUID

It is the Cologne in the Bottles sold everywere especially in the Markets

There are even signs front of the stall telling you that it is anti-Mosquito or stops Mosquito bite itching etc. Please DO NOT BUY these products for Mosquito Repelling, and if you are buying this ONLY for anti mosquito reasons then Avoid Cologne like the plague.

Cologne is used very widely in Turkey and it has become part of our culture. You will be offered cologne in almost every Turkish house and office during a social visit.Splashing or rubbing cologne on your hands, face, neck, and hair helps to refresh the air around you and gives you a fresh feeling.

You can purchase cologne from every market and pharmacy in Turkey. The price of it varies depending on the brand and scent. Cologne in a regular size glass container costs about three Euros.

Cologne has an alcohol base. Thus, it evaporates immediately after you rub it on. You do not have to wipe or dry it off. You will be offered cologne at restaurants after finishing your meal and right before leaving the restaurant.

The reason is to wipe away and cleanse your hands of food residue. While lemon cologne is the most common and most popular in Turkey, we also have colognes scented with rose, lily, jasmine, and other flowers and plants, even tobacco!

CON 2 FAKE PERFUMES

Perfumes sold in the Markets are only scented water and you can buy the real thing at duty-free for a few pounds more. Don't be persuaded to buy perfume - wait until you go back to the airport duty free when you are assured the products are genuine.

CON 3 DOCTORS AT HOTELS

In my oppinion Doctors in the Holiday Village are nothing but rip-off, charging £35 for just to see you plus the crazy amount they charge for cheap antibiotics or ear drops etc.. You may end up with paying hundreds of pounds... apparently,your Tour Operater is aware of this and therefore in my oppinion and they are responsible.

If you need ear-drops or any kind of antibiotics go to Pharmacy which you can by over the counter for couple of pounds and transportation wont cost you more then 2 pounds return with dolmush.

However, if you do book a Travel Insurance just for your peace of mind , life will be much easier for you ...Just hand over your insurance documents along with your passport to the hospital,thats it ..treatment wont cost you a penny atthe end as you will be able to get the money back when you return home.

CON 4 WATER GUNS

I am not sure to call it Con or not but it did disturbed me several time when I saw some upset tourist regarding this issue, this is why i decided to place this warning here.If you are travelling with young children you may well consider to pack in to your suitcase water gun .

Chinese Made Cheap shit Water Guns sold average for £15 -£20 with no return policy in the H.Village. You can buy far better quality water guns from Argos for far cheaper price with a 28 day return policy. Your children will see other children using it, they will ask you to buy so think saving.

CON 5 COPYCAT SITES

Some websites are copycats and they are not even ashamed of it when approached and warned. Please be warned. These little crooks want to make living by copying text and articles and try to make their visitors believe that they are legitimated business enterprices. Some of them purchase domain names similar to the legitimated ones and sell excursions, tours even accommodation.
