I booked a holiday to pegasus palace with first choice for my partner & 4 teenages, We had never been to turkey before So didn't no what to expect.  We went to welcome meeting, were they said that the tour companys in the village might not be insured and use the first choice tours. We went to the sarigerme village and went into sarigerme tours, We spoke to a really nice man who was the owner his name was APO. We allso met OZ who explained that they had to be insured so we booked a jeep Safari, quad bikes and allso asked Apo if we could do Jet skiing, He arranged it and we had a fantastic day out,(thank you apo). He took us to different places  with a very personal touch, They all speak very good english and are very friendly.  The beach in sarigerme is very good and worth a a trip to. People we spoke to in the village and were staying at first choice had not been told about the beach, We loved turkey so much and the people in sarigerme were very nice to us we decided to go back, One month later we went back to see if it was as lovely as we had remembered, And it was, So we met APO and asked if he could find us a house to buy, He took us to look at diffrent houses and we brought one which needed renovating, We told APO How we would like it done and left it to APO and he made a faboulous job of it, 2 years later we have made a lot of friends in sarigerme and we have a nice wellcome when we arrive. We would like to take the opportunity to thank APO & OZ and the staff at Sarigerme Tour for the nice trips and the buying of the house and take this opportunity to say a big thank you all and a happy 2008   regards pete & viv

THE CLEMENTS FAMILY VISIT SARIGERME

In September 2007 our family of four (Andy, Emily, Jasmine & Blake) visited Turkey for the 5 th time. I was a little bit worried as I couldn't find much information about Sarigerme, but eventually google turned up the website www.sarigerme.net where I found loads of information and felt a bit more reassured!

We were collected by Emre from Sarigerme Tour Travel Agency at the Airport – my husband enjoyed walking through arrivals and seeing our name on a placard! Emre gave us lots of information on the way to the hotel Caria. Our hotel was not one of the most expensive in the resort, but I would bet it has one of the most stunning views.

The beach is a short walk from the village and is well worth the nominal fee charged. It has a couple of play areas and plenty of toilets (always a good thing!). You are surrounded by rugged scenery while the beach has long sweeping sands and shallow waters which means that the kids can play safely!

The village is small but many areas can be reached from it and the larger town of Ortaca is only a short Dolmus or taxi ride away. If it is a hot day you may prefer to take an air-conditioned taxi……

Market day is on a Sunday, there you can find the usual T-shirts, bags, games etc. etc. It is small compared to some of the other markets but you can still grab pretty good bargains. Beware of the ladies that ask to shake your hand as they will try and attach some jewellery to it and then get you to buy it! Ortaca has a market at which you can get some pretty good bargains. The locals go there but it is not really a tourist market so just bear that in mind when you go. Don't be afraid to haggle – it can be fun!

Food and drink is quite cheap, but bear in mind that if you buy named brand alcohol that will push the price up.

I could go on for ages about how much I enjoyed our visit but I will try and finish with some of my favorite things about the area:

The transfer time from Dalaman is only 20-25 minutes – bliss if you have ever done the Marmaris run.

I liked the fact that the area does not as yet feel as though tourism has taken it over completely;

Eating a beyti kebab at the karaoke bar at the entrance to the village;

My children enjoyed going to the bar that sells iced slushies and comparing the colour of their tongues – gross!

Drinking ice cold beers while lounging on cushions and watching the world go by at DOLPHIN Restaurant and Bar

Haggling in the shops and markets for bargains;

Having a beer at the Dolphin while my husband and son popped upstairs to the barbers – he doesn't speak much English but does a pretty good haircut;

The fact that the village is closed to traffic in the evenings so the children can wonder around safely;

Going on our excursions, especially the jeep safari (we were all wet, filthy and tired at the end!) it was a fabulous day out.

Getting to know some of the locals and having a chat when we popped in;

To be honest there wasn't much I didn't like; in fact the only thing was the mosquitoes!!! Listen to what the locals say and buy ‘Sinkov' – it's only a few liras and it does the trick. There are some evil little critters in town – one even drew blood! Just make sure you apply your insect repellent and you will be fine!

We all had such a fantastic time that we have already bought our plane tickets for September 2008 and will be returning to Sarigerme. I want to go on a quad bike safari this time……………

Looking forward to going back!!

Emily
